It’s all in the name…

God can be referred to by His majestic name (Elohim) and His redemptive name (Jehovah). In the story of Hagar, God is identified as such. When she is no longer under the Abrahamic Covenant He is identified as Elohim and prior to this as Jehovah. This ties in with John 14:6 where Jesus says, “That no one can come to the Father except through me.” Jesus doesn’t say God, but “Father”- indicating a different aspect of relationship. Gives credence towards universalism I suppose. There is one God called by different names – but salvation only comes through knowing God as Father. So it still makes me exclusive. Hmm off to ponder some more…
