Do not make an idol or carved image of anything whether in the shape of birds, animals or fish. An image becomes an idol when it’s venerated. But if the commandment is against carvings/statues – strange how the panels in the Temple were of cherubim, lions and palm trees. The commandment is not a prohibition against pictures or statues, but against attempting to replace the worship of Creator God with the worship of His creation or something in His creation. But it does bring into question the use of statues and paintings of Jesus and angels in churches and homes.
