The Church has always proclaimed that there is more to being a Christian than going to worship in a church building once a week. Being a Christian is to enter into an exclusive and publicly declared covenant with God. The Church is a covenanting community. We become members either by baptism as a baby and then by personal affirmation of the promises made for you at your baptism, or if you were not baptised as a baby, by believer’s baptism.
I offer a general invitation to anyone who worships with us, who confesses that "Jesus is Lord" and believes in their heart that God raised Him from the dead – to consider making a personal covenant commitment to God through and in this congregation of His Church.
The nearest equivalent to the Christian covenant is marriage which is an agreement that binds husband and wife in a series of promises of love and commitment. Similarly I encourage those who have participated in our worship for many years to make a personal covenant commitment to God.
